Title: Tablet Pressing Intelligence
Post by: Burning Babylon on June 21, 2013, 08:21 pm
The purpose of this thread is to gather as much Intelligence as possible on Tablet Presses, that means Capsules will entirely be out of the scope of this thread. Unfortunately this subject is a bit tricky as advanced Tablet Presses worldwide have heavy regulation in terms of serial numbers and tracking, making it virtually impossible to get a hold on a Tablet Press legally without getting either the Customs Agency involved or Law Enforcement, or both at the same time. There exists some cheaper types which doesn't have as strict regulations, but their weight of 20 kilograms + will still surely raise the eyebrows of the native Customs Agency. Once a Tablet Press is inside the system domestically and its been moved to a safe location there should be no more issues, unless there's a raid in the future at some point.

To be considered a good Tablet Press it will have to be able to fulfill the following two requirements:

* The tablets created won't disintegrate by easy handling, ie. it must support some kind of binding agent.
* The equipment must have the ability to consistently put the same amount of product into each tablet.

For some bonus options:

* As high pressure as possible so the integrity of the tablet is higher.
* The ability to run a batch without any user input.
* As little noise as possible is generated.
* Support for customizing the appearance on the tablets.

As I mentioned at the start the high-end Tablet Pressers who all have the definition "Rotary Tablet Presses" are the advanced types that have heavy regulation in terms of serial number and tracking, both affording and being able to get a hold on one of these without getting it tied to yourself is something very few on Silk Road will ever achieve. The mid-grade types are what's typically being used in small scale pressing operations as that's what people can typically afford. I wish I could go into some detail on the process of tablet creation but the truth is I know very little so I'll just link to an introduction video along with the YouTube-channel of the vendor LFA Tablet Presses which has a number of interesting videos.  :P

As for binding agents which is the powder/material used to keep the tablet from falling apart once again I refer to the vendor LFA Tablet Presses as they have a good article on it: http://www.lfatabletpresses.co.uk/binding-filling-flowing-agents

Tablet presses area actually very easy to get, even the multi-die rotary machines that press out 12,000+ tabs an hour depending on the model. We have tablet presses as well as mixing machines. Anyway, what questions do you have? The filler typically used is cellulose and as far as die goes, you can just use the primary RGB colors to make them turn out the way you want. Also there are many things that factor the color of the tablet even adjusting the pressure will change the color of the tablet. It's recommended to not user more than 40% active ingredient and the rest filler. Meaning if you have a 250mg tablet, the most you could use is 100mg of whatever it is you are pressing. You play around enoungh with the machines you will figure it out pretty easy.
